Dr. Rose About Staff

Dr. Rose Tijerina Swearingen PhD, Founder and Executive Director of one of the country’s most successful treatment centers for conquering addictive, mental and behavioral health disorders. Dr. Rose brings extensive practice in the dual diagnosis arena including sixteen years with the Department of Social Services and a ten year tenure at the esteem Betty Ford Center. With a Masters in Counseling Psychology, completion of MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist) internship hours under the supervision of Dr. James Kennedy and earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Addiction Psychology in 2004. She is a committee member of the International World Council for NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals. She is affiliated, certified and trained by the Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors at a state, national and international level. With 35 years of hands on experience, Dr. Rose trains staff and coordinates an individualized level of care for each person entering the facility. She is considered an expert in the behavioral management of disorders of anxiety and mood. The Life’s Journey Center is designed to maximize recovery with practical strategies and holistic practices that enhance the emotional healing and spiritual awakening.

Dr. Rose is a lecturer, a published author and is a sought-after expert in the field of addictive studies.  She was featured on the Joan Lunden Television Special “Behind Closed Doors” at the Betty Ford Center, the program Intervention, Gone too Far with DJAM among more. Currently, she is a weekly guest on Telemundo News segment creating education, awareness and prevention on addictive disorders. In 2012 she was the honored recipient of the prestigious 2012 Athena Award for Professional Excellence from the City of Indian Wells, California.

Her courageous ground-breaking development was launched in 1996 at Life’s Journey Center in Palm Springs, California. Dr. Rose implemented a philosophy with treatment practices that apply sensitivity to cultural diversity; alternative sentencing for individuals suffering from the chronic illness of addiction and mood disorders with cost effective options for individualized treatment.

Our staff believes in solutions that bring the recovering person to a place of self love, self forgiveness and value to self, family and community.
